was listening to--double dare/in the flat field/passion of lovers/rose garden funeral of sores and stigmata/mask,and wondered how it took bauhaus almost 20 years to come up with such a poor comeback c.d ;(
 
milinda ps although i love them to bits and have seen them live 6 times over the years,i do wonder- when did they loose there original touch? we deserve better than this recent offering ;/

I haven't heard the new Bauhaus yet, but will do soon.

Yes, but  Gang of Four have songs, with simple yet hummable melodies (except "Anthrax"), and even though the guitar is jagged, there are still melody lines and riffs. The new Bauhaus, esp., just sounded like parts of songs that weren't even finished.

   Bauhaus for me is an experience, more than just the music (which i regard 
as summa tha best stuff I've ever heard). 
   Personally that revolves alot around their live presence and performance of their 
work, because it's the only way 
I got to know'em,right from the start: 
                                                    -gig-concert-concert-gig-concert-etc.etc. 3 gigs in '98, 
                                                    -3 gigs in '05. Peter twice, L&R their farewell gig at the
                                                    -Roxy in '96 (didn't knowthey were Bauhaus-sans-Peter.
 
   But i get your comment too. I absolutely loved Gang Of Four when I saw them 
live (IMO the most moving live performances I've ever seen) BUT . . . I buy their cds, 
I'll put'em on = and they sound like total shit on disc. 
  Woulnd't and haven't played those discs since i first bought them - but if they announce
a tour, i'm there in a hummingbird's heartbeat.  Weird, i know.

Whenever i looked up at Peter's bleach-blond cone-shaped hair on his last solo tour 
i kept thinking, "Doctor."

And will sound better, too. Or better put, he'll sound horrendous singing next 
to anyone else. 
 
Case in point:
  for Halloween '96 I went to see NIN opening for David Bowie. The last song NIN played 
was "Hurt," and at song's end the stage and venue went pitch-black as Trent Reznor held
 ("held") the last note in the dark. Soon the most impressive Voice chimed in imultaneously
and sings that same note, and Reznor sounded absolutely, embarrasingly, oh-god-no-please HORRID. 
  Me and my friend looked at each other and agreed no way would we have publicly 
embarrased ourselves like that by sharing that note with Bowie's oh-so-flawless tone-&-
sustain. We actually felt sorry for Trent, and not in any patronizing manner but, didn't he
know Bowie is 3 light-years beyond him, we wondered.  I mean, we felt it when Bowie chimed in on that same note. He sounds stellar.
 
  ...so the lights went up, all NIN gear was gone and Bowie's band was in place, rocking.
They closed with "Under Pressure."
