Who did Bowie do “I’m afraid of Americans with”…he asked…pointlessly…seeing
as it would have been quicker to Google…
Oh looks like Trent remixed it or sommit…originally a Bowie / Eno song…

Great post, sade. Reznor can't hold a candle compared to Bowie, for sure.

Whenever i looked up at Peter's bleach-blond cone-shaped hair HYPERLINK

i kept thinking, "HYPERLINK

And will sound better, too. Or better put, he'll sound horrendous singing
next
to anyone else.
Case in point:
for Halloween '96 I went to see NIN opening for David Bowie. The last song
NIN played
was "Hurt," and at song's end the stage and venue went pitch-black as Trent
Reznor held
("held") the last note in the dark. Soon the most impressive Voice chimed
in imultaneously
and sings that same note, and Reznor sounded absolutely, embarrasingly,
oh-god-no-please HORRID.
Me and my friend looked at each other and agreed no way would we have
publicly
embarrased ourselves like that by sharing that note with Bowie's
oh-so-flawless tone-&-
sustain. We actually felt sorry for Trent, and not in any patronizing manner
but, didn't he
know Bowie is 3 light-years beyond him, we wondered. I mean, we felt it
when Bowie chimed in on that same note. He sounds stellar.
...so the lights went up, all NIN gear was gone and Bowie's band was in
place, rocking.
They closed with "Under Pressure."
Bauhaus asides...
--- Doesn't the Gotham album cover look somewhat genitalic, even from any
angle?

of the Head in the Lightbox effect Peter uses during "Double Dare":

I call it the Edgar Allan Poe meets a Glam undertaker look........ I read he
was very angry at the rest of the band, and felt his looks were being
focused on to the exclusion of everything else (yeah, wah wah wah, Murphy).
But, I mean, he didn't look that horrific. He even did a runway
thing.....look up a video under "Peter Murphy Buckler".....he sang and
spiffed himself up more......kind of in keep with my theory that he
distorted his looks so much to upset the other members of the band.
Whatever. No one is 25 forever.
"He looked somewhat better when I saw them open for Nine Inch Nails a year
later but his best days are clearly behind him and he looks like a right
twat when he does those goofy goth aerobics moves these days."
Goth moves? All he did when I saw him was swing his jacket.....but then,
that band fell apart during this last tour so he could have been hopping
around like in the beginning of "the Hunger" for all I know on the first
leg.
IMO anyone looks better next to Trent Reznor in 2008..;0 They should make a
cardboard cutout of him for insecure peeps.......
