[kj] (OT) Jane's Addiction possibly reuniting (again)

Man, did Dave Navarro jump the shark.  I used to think he was actually kind of interesting a while back.  Now he seems to be too much into Botox and eyeliner to care about actually discussing music.  
 
He said he was influenced by Daniel Ash because Daniel Ash and David J played on his solo album.  He even had some loops from Diamanda Galas thrown in, since she apparently is such an influence (though she is not a guitarist...and he does little with vocal distortion.....anyhoo).
 
Re:  Geordie.......I can't remember where I read it, but I read he was a big fan of AC/DC, and got razzed by the other members of KJ for it.  I could some of that influence in those demos he had on myspace, but really, he is in a class by himself.  Angus Young is just an incredible savant.  
Honestly, I understand why he cites these particular guitarists because they all seem to go into that "trance" you do when you make music or are really absorbed in your art, or even listening to great music.

odd how a guitarist who plays with such garden variety pentatonic LA rock regurgitation as navarro - would quote so many inventive guitarists as his influence.yet someone truly magical and maverick like geordie will claim jimmy page, van halen, and jeff beck as influential. i get the feeling boring guitarists like navarro just drop names of musicians they think will give them some kind of alt. cred that they can't obtain with their own lack of creativity. A few years back Navarro gave an interview to the UK Total Guitar magazine and was talking about his favourite guitarists- Daniel Ash and Bernard Sumner were the first he mentioned, and later discussed Robert Smith and Geordie too.

That song is on the Porno For Pyros 2nd album, "Gods Good Urge." 
There's 
quiet a few interviews from the late 80's where various band members
mention 
Bauhaus and Love and Rockets were a huge influence on Jane's.

BTW, in addition to L&R playing the Coachella Festival here in California
in 
a cuople weeks, they are also going to be playing one of the days of the 
Summer Lollapalooza fest in Chicago and it appears they'll have a full
scale 
Summer tour of mid sized venues in support of a brand new studio album.

I think that fish is now dead in the water.  The band or project or whatever 
showed some serious promise prior to the album being released as evidenced 
by a handful of well-received shows in Hollywood, but once the album was 
released to almost zero sales and the subsequent tour barely made it through 
some shaky club dates and festival appearances, it was obvious that when 
guitarist Nuno Bettencourt bailed unexpectedly, Perry wasn't going to be 
able to hold it together.
