[kj] the essence

Yeah good spotting with Jazz, I wasn't gonna mention that...sigh.

But Queen looking like nerds...come on, they were. What you saw is what you
got with them, as opposed to knobs like The Misfits etc. I thought the whole
punk ethos was to be original or be yourself...?

Good to see you timed that to cut off before the Flash soundtrack, but ...
Jazz? Honestly?

Queen, to me, epitomise the sort of pomp-rock nonsense I hate. I acknowledge
there's a lot of personal animus, but everything from Brian May's
Restoration wig and stadium stance, through Mr Bulsara's pre-Borat leotards,
including Roger Taylor's mad ferret impersonation throughout the Bohemian
Rhapsody video and Deacon's OMD Brussel sprout hair repels me.

When I was at school, there was a room you could book that contained a
shitty little record player. You got twenty minutes, booked a week in
advance, to play your 45s (wouldn't play at 33 1/3 at all, which meant that
some of my eps were not viable) to your friends. I always seemed to end up
waiting outside while some greasy fucker played Bicycle Race on repeat. I
remember finally kicking the door in, tearing the record off the deck and
smashing it to pieces against the wall. Gave him the cash to buy another
single (think he followed my recommendation and bought "No More Heroes"),
but it was enormously satisfying.

Everything Queen did up through THE GAME was brilliant.
