Tin, thanks for bringing some life back to this mailing list! Probably
shouldn't say this, but more of the same tonight please! And don't forget to
have a drink for me! :-)
I thought Tin Soldier had some half points, but drew some things into it all
that had no bearing.
(38 yrs old 6 4 1/2 b/f I go any further)
For one it doesn't matter the age of the person in relation to what is being
spoken on. We could be a bunch of 21 yr olds speaking on the topics in which
he doesn't think are relevant to what Killing Joke really is about.
Me personally, yeah well Vedic and esoterica is what I am- That's what made
Killing Joke go beyond the realm of even a band and music- Bringing up "Kali
Yuga", the Golden Age, mentioning Bohemian Grove and other things as such-
to me that's like wow pretty damn cool- to someone else , even a core fan,
that may all gloss right by them without even a notice or care- maybe even a
scoff.
Now when I joined the list (late 90's) I would have imagined it would have
been full with people who were keying into the same things. I wouldn't say that
I was let down when I realized it wasn't (or to the extent that I was), I
just would have thought different.
Though KJ (and its members) isn't as philosophically defined as like
(original) Shelter, but it could be seen as being into Shelter for the lyrics and
philosophy, joining an e list of their core followers and finding out that
most people on the list just have a mild or general interest at most (or even
be opposed to the general philosophy)of what one really would want to talk
about while being on the list and what really interests them about the band and
its members- this example being mentioned in Tin Soldiers behalf-
For me I hold others opinions and mindsets equal to mind so hey if someone
isn't what i'm into then so be it-Another thing is KJ has a lot of facets to
what they could be defined as- they have been through different "stages"
where some philosophy was more dominant then others- other times the philosophy
was there but more vague- They also have some contradicting philosophy (go
figure)- you could take 4-6 lines and draw up a philosophy and 4-6 other lines
and come up with a very opposite philosophy- one then could just be tapped
into a core aspect of the band at a different angle then ourself and neither one
is offbase.
another big point is sure there is lot discussed that could be seen as
banal, but there isn't a hell of a lot going on to talk about anyway- I mean that
goes without saying.
Anyway just my thoughts on it all- If I didn't like and appreciate the list
I wouldn't be on it. Ive appreciate all the talk and different points of view
over the years (besides all bickering and bs of course)
