When I was really into punk in the pre-Internet days, and the magazine
Maximum Rock n Roll was the default national US underground punk zine, I
actually wrote Merle Allin and bought bootleg video tapes from him a few
times via snail mail. He'd advertise his tapes for sale in MRR. He did
have some really rare freakin' live stuff. (This was also all
pre-YouTube, of course, and trading copies of VHS tapes of hardcore
bands was a sort of underground cottage industry) -- I b0ught some stuff
from him, never knowing until years later he was GG's brother ad band mate.

For whatever it's worth, he was always nice to me in correspondence,
prompt in getting me me material. Way more prompt about it than many
eBay sellers or big corporations.
