Do things have to have a certain amount of 'punk cred' for you to like them?

Subject: [kj] More info on October File/ Jaz / KJ collaboration

Well, I'd basically written off October File as an annoying nu-hardcore
band with hints of promise here and there if they would only tease out
more of their latent KJ-iness or Stranglers sensibilities.

However, I just realized the band named themselves after a Die Kreuzen
song, a band shown briefly on the documentary _American Hardcore_ -- and
also just a damn good, under-appreciated band in any event. Some of
their songs were Neurosis-like before there was a Neurosis. Maybe they
have more "punk cred" (whatever that's worth nowadays) than I'd thought.

But now I am really anticipating the, er, October ... October File LP.
If anyone gets any info on advance copies for review, etc., let me know.
Or if anyone finds out what tracks Jaz sings on.

-Oliver
