[kj] Gathering Digest, Vol 45, Issue 126 s.man-- your new to list

Hi there,

Think u must mean me...
I'm not sure for how long I've been registered with the gathering. Probably about 1 and a half or 2 years.
As a matter of fact I've never changed my identity and I never had any trouble with anyone.
I've only posted about 2 or 3 times. I remember delivering a translation of a small part of a german interview with Jaz and on another occasion I just stated that I got my money back from the gop account after an angry email.
I'm always keen on anything concerning KJ and company which is why I'm here and why I'm familiar with the stuff that went on in the web a bit (I knew about the earlier work of Jester R.I.P.)
I just posted because I don't share Frank's opinion about Rammstein - I do like their album Reise, Reise -some good stuff on it and thanks to my parents I know that they have loads of references to literature in their lyrics I wouldn't have found. Also some of them display a bit of irony and are actually quite funny. Check out their video for "Keine Lust" which means something like "I'm not in the mood"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xxGOKVBvlo

But all in all their scheme has been an extremely simple one: Metal riffing, melodramatic melodies, shock effects like harsh lyrics (sex and violence, oh, oh) cleverly playing with nazi-clichees and thus forcing the german press to deal with them. I remember a journalist observing a conservation between Jaz and Till who had named KJ as an influence before RS became a trademark themselves where Jaz started to talk about his usual themes and Till - rather confused - left looking for female "fans". lol.

The reason I'm here - again - is that I think of myself as a diehard KJ fan although I haven't ben been involved with "the scene" very much and - please don't take this as an offence - I don't mean to. I just like to stay up to date.

cheers from Germany, Marcel

They?re a completely soul-less band, and the guttural German goes so badly with the love songs (case in point : Ohne Dich, from the excellent ?Reise Reise?) that the songs become almost surreal. I really like ?Mein Teil? from the same album; anyone who can make a hit single from the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_Meiwes case gets my vote. ?Sehnsucht? takes a lot of beating as an album, as it features ?Speil Mit Mir?, one of the most bombastic, overly melodramatic tracks ever. A b-side called ?Hallelujah? is worth tracking down too, but may be offensive if you?re a Catholic priest and are familiar with German... No doubt Frank Frik, our convincing Teutonic visitor, could help out with those awkward translations. Alternatively, herzeleid.com is a good resource.
