This month's "What Hi-Fi" mag has a free "What MP3" mag inside with countless reviews on mp3 players of different sizes.  I'd look for you but the mag's at home.  And whatever you choose to buy, always replace the freebie earphones with some better ones (there's reviews of those too in the mag).

If you're only looking to carry a couple of albums there are much cheaper alternatives to the ubiquitous Ipod . . starting from around £10 for a 256meg cheapy (should be good for a couple of albums) upwards . .
