[kj] reasons why BTATS is gash

i think if i'd been a joker since day one i'd have been disappointed with it
(and the tour would have been a total let-down), but since i didn't get into
them until '88 (of all years) that wasn't the case. the main problem seems
to be that's when jaz started taking over. it's the only album the remixes
of which i actually prefer. as with jamie potanga, it also has to power to
take me back in time emotionally. you're too harsh on 'rubicon'. can't fault
'chessboards' at all. both singles yielded at least one excellent remix.
'victory' i still like, though i see where you're coming from. the only one
i really just can't abide is 'exile'. ('a southern sky' i have blanked out
of my mind completely, so that doesn't count.) the gatefold inner of the
'adorations' 7" double-pack surely has to be their nadir in terms of
commercialisation?
