Alex,

They certainly became lighter on Brighter (and indeed lighter still on OTG) but Night Time was definitely the album where they started to seek commercial success. (I'm not sure I agree that KJ ever "completely sold out" though - I think they tried to become more accessible, whilst still purveying the end of the world lunacy that we know and love.)

Regarding the commercialism of Night Time - you've surely experienced the "is this U2" moment with LLB?
