[kj] Pyramid Myth

>From my own experiences, i'd say that the actual
recording of tracks is probably the most mechanical
bit. In the past, i've tried really hard to put in a
very "spirited" performance and in the end found that
you really can't tell the difference between that one
and the take you did when you were distracted half the
time. Maybe on drums is the exception, but even then i
find it's much better to relax and play
conservatively, rather than OK! ONE TWO THREE LET'S
FUCKING GOOO!!!!! and giving it everything you've got.
You really can't tell the difference when listening
back to the finished product. But inspiration does
come at all times and there are always little flashes
of insight that come to you when you're recording your
shit, even moreso when you're mixing it down and
adding all the effects and chopping pieces up and
moving them around and whatnot. So, there really is no
definative answer. But i will say that i've always
thought that the idea of recording your album in a
pyramid or a castle or a cave is really stupid. Like,
if you're choosing a location based only on the
location alone, it's never gonna come across on the
recording. It's just something to talk about.
