Greg,

Haven't been to Axis since the KJ show I think. At axis, that floor
area sounds boomy, and the subs for the pa seem to make the stage resonate
and make the bass frequencies take off a bit. At the same time, the high
frequencies there will take your head off if you're in the wrong place at the
wrong time.
At the KJ show, the best sound was standing at the back of the floor
at the top of the stairs. It got rid of the boomy floor sound and geordies
stage sound was loud and clear, as it was going straight over the heads of
the folks on the floor. the fact that most of those heads were balding and
shiny I'm sure was a help.
Live sound does seems to be getting to be like a lost art or
something. When I go out on the odd occasions when I get a chance, it dosn't seem
like it matters to people as much as it used to. In the 80's/early 90's
there used to be a ton of freelance sound people, now it seems like there are
hardly any. weird, Carl P.
