There is a great DVD out there that chronicles the development of the Sheffield electronic sound. It is called "Made in Sheffield" and it is available via amazon. It covers the Cabs, Human League, ABC (which was originally called Vice Versa). It is fascinating how a sound starts in one area and there are usually a number of bands in that scene who are competitive in a way or friends and push each other. I am thinking of the late 70s NYC CBGB scene, the London punk scene, and the Leeds punk/funk scene. However, usually only a few of these bands are ever heard by the larger worldwide public. Artery is especially interesting. This is definitely worth renting or buying...

P.S.-Downloaded Judas Goat via iTunes last night as this was a track that many on the list said was among the best on the album. Pretty disappointing on first listen...

P.S.-Read the KJ article in Mojo with Jaz and was taken by the sidebar where he talks about sharing a bill with Joy Division. It's funny how he calls Peter Hook out for not drinking anymore, but maybe Jaz would be wise to follow his lead...
