"How long till there's a 1st Album Killing Joke clone group that's what I want to know"

  They're called Ministry.

After all these Joy Division/gang of 4 "inspired" groups, How long till there's a 1st Album Killing Joke clone group that's what I want to know

It's like in the 1960 when you got all these British groups doing rubbish covers of Muddy Waters songs and called brilliant and selling loads because everyones too lazy to check out the orginals...

The weird thing is, I've been obsessed with the post-punk era for a long time now & it's close to my heart - you'd have thought I'd be happy to hear all these bands trying to sound like JD, Bunnymen, etc, etc. But really, I couldn't be more unimpressed/angry! Just hope someone will go buy Unknown Pleasures off the back of some sh!tty Editors/Interpol post-punk-by-numbers tripe.

While I actually like that Futureheads, Ade's right about most of these bands -- they're mostly "the odd good moment," but absolutely no staying power.

I quite like the odd Kasabian tune, though I've not listened at length yet. They do a convincing effort at StoneRoses/Primals. I heard that Futureheads sh!t-stain cover of Hounds of Love & just fukkin' *KNEW* I'd hate them forever. And the Bravery.

I think the majority of these bands are doing the exact same thing - embarassing & tiresome rip-offs with the odd good moment...

While we are on the subject of new bands... I listened to the Futueheads CD quite a few months ago and it really didn't do anything for me. Then I saw them support the Pixies and thought they were really good live and since the CD has really warmed on me.
