Tim
If this is your honest view that you don't like what the Foos have done
recently, that is up to you but I don't agree with you at all personally.
The more I play the latest couple of albums, the more I appreciate them. I'm
not saying they are better than their earlier stuff - they are different.
Why people have to continually compare stuff, I don't know.
No offence mate but it just sounds like the usual "they are popular now so
they are now shit".
That was my view with Adam and the Ants when I was a kid and they put out
Kings of the new frontier.
It is true with some bands still - they get popular and start pumping out
pop-shit for the masses rather than put out the music they actually wanted
to do.
Call me Mr. Naive if you want, but I don't believe Dave Grohl is putting out
his new stuff to sell more. It's not as if he has toned down the guitar
sound or cut down on his screaming. As iPat once said, the production on the
new album is outstanding and that is probably putting some people off - they
want the more basic sounding production.
Unfortunately for them, not many bands would stick with their original
production options when they have the option of using the best equipment and
producers.

Regards
Rob Martin
