TG used to play ABBA after they finished - they had a clock that turned off
their feed to the PA after
60mins - the PA would then blare out various ABBA tunes whilst TG filed off
stage. Chris Carter was/is
a big ABBA fan...

Once in the early 80s at my college radio station, an ultra-trendy
industrial dj did a special: half Throbbing Gristle, half ABBA. This is a
true story.

ABBA are great. Back in 1992/3 I listened to nothing but
industrial/hardcore stuff: Ministry, Neubauten, Rev Co, Big Black, Killdozer
etc etc. Me and my oh-so-cool friends all turned our noses up at pop. One
day I bought ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme for 10p from a second hand shop for a
laugh.
When I put it on it blew me away. I know that's such a cliche, but it
literally blew the cobwebs out of my head. I'd been snobbishly listening to
"hard" stuff for so long that this was a real breath of fresh air. It was
bouncy and super-melodic. I turned up the volume and couldn't stop playing
it.
(And Super Trouper was the first single I bought when I was nine.)
    Cheers,
    Janean

ABBA is (was) a great band. Even their bad stuff they did well, like

I like Abba. SOS, Dancing Queen and
Knowing Me, Knowing You are perfect pop songs.
