Yeah, they filmed that cameo right after original bassist Dave Tregunna has
quit the band in '85.

What led to that was that Dave long suspected their manager, the infamous
Miles Copeland who ran their record label IRS Records of ripping off the
band financially. Lords drummer Nicky Turner was working under Miles as a
scout for other bands on the side and took Mile's side when it came to a
head. Stiv and Brian took Nicky's side so Dave quit the band. When they
filmed their part in Tapeheads, they had yet to hire their next bass player,
Grant Flemming so in the movie, the guy playing bass is actually their
second guitarist when they were a 5 piece during '85 - '86, Alistair
Simmons.

Somewhat amusingly, in early '88, Nicky Turner left the band to work full
time for Copeland (who had dumped The Lords off IRS a couple years before)
and Dave Tregunna returned to The Lords, replacing his replacement until the
band broke up about a year later. Drummer Danny Fury from UK band Kill City
Dragons replaced Turner for the band's last year together.
