My objection was based around your claim that these people were ignorant because they lacked something necessary for survival: medicine. Quite clearly, western medicine is not necessary for their survival.

I believe the average lifespan of an Amazonian Indian (for example) is 60 years, not that much less than ours. One of the main reasons they need western medicine is to fight western diseases, so we haven't done them that many favours there.

I think that you will find that as a peoples ,that Amazonians have
survived without medicines, but individually their life span is alot
shorter. You cannot be suggesting that if a person needs a organ transplant
to survive, that if he lived in the jungle and would nt be able to get one
then he would nt need one!!!!They don't have access to medicines, that is
why their life span is to about forty years old.
But I agree that developed people are to dependent on pills, but that
is a human trait and not just exclusive to one set of humans (dependency on
whatever medicines are available).People should not look to pills for cures
for mental illness, but they should take them where necessary for other
things, I ve hardly ever took any pills in my whole life .......and I'm
perfectly fine.

have very little in the way of medicine, no antibiotics, no kidney dialysis,
no organ transplants, no medicines to treat mental illness- the list goes
on, but you see my point. According to you, these things are necessary for
survival. It's a bit of a mystery then how these guys have managed to
survive for thousands of years without them. I'm certainly puzzled.
