Indeed, the only track I'd ever heard was WPOD from the very same OGWT
performance. I was surprised at just how cheesey some of their material was,
but it was an excuse to get an old friend out the house & an experience in
itself. Dunno if I'll be rushing out to buy any albums.. ;)

Ok - serious stuff over.

Saw The Tubes on Saturday in Manchester's Hop & Grape. I'd never seen them
before, (except on the telly - OGWT I think back in the 80s), so didn't
really know what to expect. I agree WPOD was fantastic, but I have to say
the rest of the 2 hour show was all a bit cabaret for me after a while...
with too many lengthy instrumental pieces while Fee changed into various
wild & wonderful costumes. All in all an entertaining night though.

Afterwards we ended up going to the Thirsty Scholar near Oxford Road
station. If any of you are ever in Manchester on a Saturday or Sunday night,
I would highly recommend this late-licenced, (free entry), pub. The DJ, Mark
loves Killing Joke, and soon after we walked in played Metallica's "The
Wait", Foo Fighters "Requiem", then KJ themselves' "Butcher". He also played
at least 2 other joke tracks later on, along with a great mix of other
alternative & rock sounds. I haven't heard such a good DJ playlist outside
our own house for a very long time. Seemed a really nice bloke too - he's
not on the gathering, but I said I'd give him a plug.

Jane

Anyone see The Tubes there, the night before? White Punks on Dope was
entertaining!

hi Steve,

thought the Head were on fine form and a good set list although still wish I
could hear them do the track Motorhead. Are you sure it was me though I
didn't get in the venue until after they had gone off so missed them.

Mike
