This is the thing innit - these techniques are very old & can be applied in
many different situations, religion being the most pertinent to the
conversation, but certainly not exclusive to it. If it ain't god, it's
summat else...

    They're merely obligated. Peer-pressure-ish. It's easy to justify one's
    actions when you're convinced you're doing The Right Thing. That makes
sense
    to *my* psyche, but everyone's value-system is different of course. IMO.

    guess one of religions' roles is to provide a single value-system for

    Not really, they have simply hidden it under a veil of religion.
    The result is a confused and dogmatic approach where they fear
    straying away from what others expect. If they had no fear, they would
    not blindly follow. As i said earlier, if the person is confused then
    they will confuse the 'truths'.
