[kj] Undersung KJ songs

Agree. I'm a Democracy apologist (I think the guitar on Medicine Wheel
and Pilgrimage is underappreciated sweetness), but Aeons and Savage
Freedom are clearly the two highlights most worth salvaging from that album.

Undersung elsewhere: it's hard to pick and choose on an album chock-full
of such meliflousness, but Feast of Blaze has long been my archetype
from Fire Dances. Between storming verse and dipping chorus, it's the
classic unpleasantly beautiful ride over hills and valleys from
Geordie's guitar. I could be bedridden with ailments, and the first
chords of that song would still force me up and move me to sprint around
the block, conscripting celebrants for an impromptu feast. Sitting still
for that song is physically impossible; I take care not to play it while
I'm on a plane, lest my reaction put me on a Homeland Security watchlist.

I'm not a big supporter of the DEMOCRACY record, but **OOF** does this track ever cook. Sure, it's a bit busy (was the acoustic guitar necessary?), but with the possible exception of "Aeon," it's the best thing on the album.
