Yes, if I die, I die - I remember had some relatively catchy, tuneful
numbers on it. Unfortunately I no longer have a copy. Some of their other
recorded stuff i have endevoured to listen to, but not for long....couldn't
hack it.

They were fucking amazing live, though!!!!!!

I've still got their video 'Sons Find Devils'. Very wierd stuff.

exactly,

i mean i understand that with every generation people turn round and say 'i
dont understand today's music' but the thing is the stuff that's out now
just totally misses the heights of the things it is trying to rip off.

heavy music isnt neither original or heavy. I think that probably reached a
limit with death metal anyway. Even when I'm 80 I'm sure I'll be able to
say 'today's bands aren't actually as heavy as they were when I was young'.

'emotive' indie music has constantly failed to move me in recent years. Be
it Travis or Keane or whatever 'The' band is in vogue this week it all comes
across as stuff that my mum would probably like.

It's one thing to rip off a style but you should remember what made that
style popular.

Actually on that score Scissor Sisters actually do hit their target.
They're the new Bee Gees.
Which is upsetting...

Matthew Burke <marsboy1 at msn.com> wrote:

>Scissor Sisters....

>why is music so sh*t these days?

Shocking, innit? I've been preparing myself for years for the day that
the youth of the world comes up with a musical movement that will
legitimately insult me, that will be beyond my understanding in its direct
affront to my values. You know, the natural order of things. Still
waiting. They've been subverted in a most unnatural and pathetic way.

And this Scissor bunch goes beyond the corporate manufactured culture motif.
I caught them on television a couple weeks ago. At first I laughed, waited
another minute, then they did nothing but make me angry. They reminded me
of Sparks without the humor. And having to reference Sparks in a musical
discussion is something I'd hoped never to have to do.

My suggestion for everyone is to get a copy of the last Motorhead album,
Inferno. Just came across one last week and it really is top notch, on par
with some of the best stuff they've done. I'll pit Lemmy collecting his
pension against any of these prancing sacks of sh*t.

I believe we won the 1955 title on April 23rd 1955 at home to Sheff
Weds (second last game).

As it happens we also have a home game on April 23rd 2005, the fourth
last game, this time against Fulham - the club who could have been
playing at Stamford Bridge 100 years previously if they'd taken up the
offer and prevented Chelsea ever being formed.

Mark it in your diaries - April 23rd 2005, it's written in the stars!

I remember that article. Thanks for sharing. It looks like they are on a
boat, going by those window hatches.
Any idea what the "More Joking p10" refered to at the end of the article?

Antoni,
thanks for that, did the Porchester Hall gig go ahead? - can't imagine the
'personal greet at the door' routine would've lasted too long
though.......excellent picture, Jaz looking calm and relaxed, poor old
Atkins' head has doubled in size since (80's hair prob.)
2 weeks off work? not here you wouldn't
