[kj] This is religion...

absolutely.....I'm a practising Catholic (but have escaped many times) and
at the tender age of 45 I've had a few years to ponder the question and am
no nearer to explain why fundamentalists from all religions grab the
headlines whereas the other tarnished 98% of us wander (yes, like sheep)
into church every Sunday and (in my case) pass monies over not to the
Vatican but to something like a project by a Missionary who's trying to
house some poor families somewhere in Gambia or wherever. If not this then
the priest asks us to contribute to the massive running costs of his church
which has circa. 1000 bods turning up most weeks looking for PEACE (more
often than money he begs for volunteers to help the less fortunate locals).
I cannot see anything remotely wrong with the moral doctrine that 1 hour on
a Sunday can deliver particularly to my 2 children..........I therefore am
tired of being held responsible for every Bin Laden/Evangelical Jerry
Springer protester/intolerant violent Sikh. I aint the most cerebral around
but I'm sure it's not stupidity that clocks me on Sunday mornings, just a
bit of old fashioned guilt that I don't do enough for my fellow man.

too bloody right on the Andy Partridge front - they were touring in Sydney
years back and he was slagging off Devoto and the rest of Magazine, I've had
it in for him ever since...........Generals and Majors, fucking spare
me...........

who gives a crap what that dork has to say.
Religion is one thing- spirituality and the spiritual sciences are another
Each "religion" has an exoteric side and an esoteric side. The exoteric
being what would be termed as fundamental religion. The mystical/esoteric
side of each being spiritual sciences.
I have heard it said (although its a major generalization) that stupid
people are into religion, smart people are turned off/dont belive in
religion but smarter people understand the spiritual sciences.
It does make sense that one would be turned off to what is out there but
that dosent give some rubber stamp that it all is falsified.
