[kj] Dregs of The Joke

What we all want!

Another EG/Verjin Killing Joke compilation!

One for corrupt distributors to sell to lots of promo
sellers so Vinyl Exchange can flog CD-R promos of it
for six quid, when just down the road you can buy a
new copy for a fiver!

One that we would never ever burn for friends, because
it would hurt the band so they would be weeping in
four languages at least!

Here is my suggested tracklist:

1. Wardance (live, Ha!)
2. Requiem (12" version)
3. Change (original single version)
4. Brilliant
5. Sun Goes Down (live, Ha!)
6. The Pandys Are Coming (live, Ha!)
7. Take Take Take (live, Ha!)
8. Unspeakable (live, Ha!)
9. Tension (live at the Paris Theatre 85)
10. Dregs
11. Birds of a feather
12. Frenzy
13. Blue Feather
14. A New Day
15. Darkness Before Dawn (live at the Paris Theatre
85)
16. Kings and Queens (live at the Paris Theatre 85)
17. Love Like Blood (86 remix)
18. Adorations (instrumental)
19. Jihad (Beirut Mix)
20. Wardance (naval remix))

I think that would rock plenty!

Except for the odd remix here and there (Kings &
Queens Right Royal/Knave, Eighties B-side, Flock the
B-side, A New Day Dub, Sanity & Adorations 12"
remixes), which could be perhaps be included as a
special bonus EP so you never have to bother listening
to it, that just about rounds up all the loose ends
from when they were living in the EIGHTIES.

As for the planned reissues of all Killing Joke
albums, surely it'd make sense to do Extremities,
Revelations, Pandemonium & Democracy before any of the
others?

After all I never see new copies of these four albums
for sale anywhere as I travel the land peaking in the
Killing Joke sections of many shops before I go to
Shellac and PJ Harvey gigs, except the occasional
expensive "import" of Pandemonium (although having
known several former employees of Manchester's
drastically over-priced HMV shop I wouldn't be at all
surprised to find that these weren't "import" copies
at all and that they were just taking the piss).

Isn't it a bit of a JOKE that the three albums prior
to the one with the McDonalds colours on the cover are
now difficult to find for sale outside of ebay & 2nd
hand shops?

Surely this sorry state of affairs is 'hurting the
band' more than any naughty law breakers who copy
'Killing Joke for Beginners' for passing bright eyed
young?

Cue a Motley Chorus of Bevis/Butthead clones:
"Breakin' the law!
 Breakin' the law!"

So I read on my 'Killing Joke for Beginners' CD whilst
listening to EMPIRE SONG on my 'Laugh? I Nearly Bought
One!' CD that copying a CD and giving it away has "the
same effect as stealing a disc from a store without
paying for it."

How is this so?
What is this effect, exactly?
Does Jaz feel actual physical pain every time a person
burns a Killing Joke CD for a friend?
Haven't these poor theft blighted shops discovered the
legal con of insurance yet?
How does one steal a disc after paying for it?
Who wrote this patronising hocus pocus?

Laugh? I Nearly Bought One!

"Breakin' the law!
 Breakin' the law!"

So every time I bought a secondhand Killing Joke
record or CD did this also hurt the band?

"Breakin' the law!
 Breakin' the law!"

Do the fans feel the torment of a 'Hole in the Wallet'
when they realise that for a fiver they can get twice
as much music on a 'Laugh?' CD as they can on 'Fire
Dances'?

Is money really not our god?

How much is one Killing Joke song worth?

Should a longer song such as
AGE OF GREED
be pricier than a shorter one such as
EXIT
????

And Whatever Happened to Those
   "Gems of Power" ?

"Breakin' the law!
 Breakin' the law!"
