um..t'was not implying the influence was exclusive merely an
observation..( perhaps a bit redundant for the old brits on this
list, but new to these american ears ), no doubt the influence was
going on at the time. red beat does have some police/wire/gang of
four similarities as well. but roy jones' vocal phrasing is so
similar to bpf and paul jones definitely has some similarities to bpf
- sticks and skin wise.
the guitar and a few song structures resemble the early joke approach
as well..."see" in particular sounds wardance'ish, while the chorus
of the wait resembles parts of 'see'.
the guitar has lots of similarities to andy gill, andy summers, colin
& bruce etc.
but the similarities do seem a bit deeper between the label mates.
despite being two completely different musical fruits.
and no i'm not implying the bands are legumes

in fact you could also listen to some ruts dc stuff and see an
influence. I feel its more part of what was going on at the time
rather than identical.
