obviously shifting from Darkness to Franz Ferdinand has been a huge step forward but in my opinion the point is that "alternative mainstream" groups are either clone of this or that 60/70/80/90ties group...

orange juice, depeche mode or joy division (just to name few) started something new and original... isn't it just time somebody try to be brave and creative again rather than pleasing record labels?

personally I like a lot the electroclash scene... to me that can be somehow comparable to the punk spirit back in the seventies...
