what's progressive about becoming isolated from your neighbours?

Who the hell wants to live in a village anyway? The only time i want to go to a village is when im passing through on my way to somewhere interesting.Who wants to know everyone in their village.I dont even want to know my neighbours .Like I care if their cat got ran over.
It's called progress, evolution, the world is moving forward.
Humans have been developing for over 10 000 years,Do you think that the whole human race will stop moving forward just because Fat & ipat think that we are at a stage where we ve progressed enough?............I dont think so.
I imagine your forefathers thought:"I did prefer the cave,It was so homely,And these houses the walls are so thin,We had massive walls in the cave".
Fat,You are typical of the Council house generation,You expect everything should be handed to you on a plate,You think its your given right to live where you want. The world is full of people wanting to live somewhere else. You moved out ,and received a tidy profit. You never earned this money,You received it through luck. You should feel bloody lucky instead of winging about it.It was your choice.

Gotta go.

( PS the village idiot bit was nt aimed at anyone,I just though it sounded good)

Hear hear!

I come from a beautiful village called Lymm that has been decimated over the
last 5 years by excessive property development.
Practically every scrap of field has been turned into sprawling Oluxury¹
estates.
£750K Odetached¹ houses built so closely together you can stand between and
touch them both.
I saw on the news recently that it is now the most desirable place to live
in the UK crazy.

We were forced out after 2 years of looking for a new house due to rising
prices.
We were doubling, or even tripling our mortgage for a smaller house!
Our mid terraced ex council house now costs more than we paid for the 5 bed
detached we¹re in. (the flipside of selling in an up and coming area you
make a bit when you sell)
As a result, most of the people I grew up with are being pushed out by the
OLexus & Range Rover¹ brigade.
There is no affordable housing and the majority of properties are owned by
Southern investors.
Goodbye to the village.

A mate of mines mother has a bit of land with a lovely old cottage on.
She was offered £2M for the lot so they could raze her house and build yet
another faceless luxury estate.
She refused, but you can understand why so many people haven't.

Every time I return to see my family OGoodbye to the village¹ comes to mind
Each time I find it more poignant

It makes me sad.
