Yes I saw one too from my kitchen window when I was 10/12 years old. It
truly was a ball of fire! Definitely something you never forget.

Many years ago (about 20 to 25 methinks), I saw something similar if not
quite as spectacular whilst standing in the back garden, attempting the view
the annual (in August) Perseids meteor shower. That one made a few obvious
bounces off the earth's atmosphere (rather than burn up) ... quite possibly
the most amazing thing I've ever seen ...
