I spoke with Jaz couple of times recently and I guess that whether he is
lying or not is reduced to definition of a lie.
If lie is something that is not the truth and one who says it is clearly
aware of it then Jaz is probably not a liar.
I would say he rather likes to speak a lot and make impression on people
that he is very interesting person. In the end I would say he is himself
lost in what is truth, what is his wish and what was originally a lie but he
started to believe it. I think there is something childish about his
behaviour.
I think THC is a factor in it too, although not only. (In fact I felt best
with him and with best understanding when I was stoned myself.)
He is quite educated person and able to follow various events and so on. It
must be easy to make an impression on some people.
Well he is still within the limitations of an outlook of English educated
middle class with all its liberal prejudice and snobbery.
He says he is a believer because he finds it intellectually provoking . it
is a spiritual drug. He is able to speak about it for a while as a high
philosophy but in the end his explanation of it is banal and comes to 'too
many strange things happened" which is in my view just a version of a
religion of pre-civilization primitive human societies.
As regards his social/political ideas they are pretty confused. He can speak
quite radically on occasion but in the end his ideal is a middle England in
fact. He has definite tendency to believe in conspiration 'theories' - which
is in my view in the final analysis a kind of middle class paranoia of the
world dominated by someone else (i.e. corporate greed - 'uneducated',
'unethical', 'inhumane').
But at the same time all this makes him sensitive to what is happening
around him and he is able to use it artistically and make the great music he
does with Killing Joke.
