I'm with Alex on the origins but boy, did the Brits teach you a lesson in
delivery.......

ps. Steve Jones was in charge of the 3 chords, Lydon was behind the message

Fair points, Rob...but according to whose rulebook is Punk exclusively a
politicized movement? Hell, listen to SOME PRODUCT, CARRY ON SEX PISTOLS,
and Steve Jones himself denies there being anything "political" about the
band (I'm sure Lydon might disagree).

Lest any more feathers get ruffled, let me just state for the record that
nine-tenths of my favorite bands -- Punk or otherwise -- are British,
British, British. That doesn't change the fact, nor does it blur the clear
logic that Punk Rock *STARTED* in the States with the Ramones.

Punk in UK sprang up from the most god awful circumstances in the UK which
gave it some bite. I just think the Ramones were dumb (with crap hair cuts
to boot).

to side with Alex on this
one. I must remind Rob that all the nihlism and
up
yours attitude necessary can be found on the first
Ramones album. A

"Judy is a
Punk" "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "Loudmouth" and
more.
Enough teen angst for the rest of the 70's, the
Pistols didn't even need
