Hello Music Lovers,

This week's show includes a musician who helped give life to the Later
show! When The Stone Roses made their first ever TV appearance on BBC2's
The Late show back in 1989 there were a few technical difficulties. As a
result we decided that we needed a show dedicated to live music and
Later... came into being! Tonight we welcome back their lead singer, IAN
BROWN, who will be performing tracks from his new solo album 'Solarized'
as well as a classic Roses song.

All the way from Buffalo, New York State, MERCURY REV make a welcome
return to the Later studios. We're getting an exclusive preview on
tracks from their wonderful new album, 'The Secret Migration', which
isn't released until next January.

Canadian songstress, k.d. lang joins us in the studio to sing Leonard
Cohen's classic "Hallelujah". This is just one of the tracks from her
excellent new album 'Hymns Of The 49th Parallel', which explores the
work of some of her favourite Canadian songwriters such as Cohen & Joni
Mitchell.

Hull's finest, THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH, will be performing a track from
their remarkable new album of cover versions. They've given S Club 7's
"Don't Stop Moving" a country ballad makeover and they also rework
classic songs such as "Don't Fear The Reaper" & "You're The One That I
Want".

I'm delighted to bring you the Poet Laureate of French Rap, MC SOLAAR.
He was born in Senegal but has spent most of his life in Paris. He'll be
performing tracks from his new album 'Mach 6'.

I'm also pleased to welcome a fantastic new band from New York who I'm
sure you'll be hearing a lot more from in the coming months, THE
BRAVERY. They cite British bands like The Clash and The Buzzcocks as
their influences so I'm sure we're in for a treat!

Hugh Cornwell will be joining me at the piano to chat about his days in
The Stranglers and about his new autobiography 'A Multitude Of Sins'.

Next week my guests will include ELTON JOHN, KEANE, INTERPOL and many
more.

Make sure you tune in this Friday night at 11.35pm on BBC 2.
