Yes, if you're having to choose between New Orleans
and Memphis, go with New Orleans (despite the
opressive humidity). More options/fun in case a given
plan falls through. Once there, don't get stuck on
Bourbon Street for too long--it's amusing and foul for
its mass of humanity and other oddities, but there's
more to the town, the rest of the French Quarter, good
uptown bars and food, Garden District...the relatively
new World War II museum is pretty good, too, if you're
into that type of thing. As P Bernardi said, the food
is fantastic whereever you stray. The cabbies are
quite...uh, laid back..."The Big Easy," ha ha, when
it's that godawful hot and humid, everybody takes
their damn sweet old time doing anything.
