was over here from Oz Christmas 83 (?) and saw KJ @ Edgbaston, lots of
spitting but no aggro, loads of f*cking snow though - cannot remember who
supported but think it was Play Dead.....

When I was there twice I was fully employed on stage for the constant
barrage coming up on stage, who I would take around the side and let back
in, much to their astonishment as they were probably used to the odd hiding
from the regular security.
There was no fighting - at least what I saw, just an extreme crowd surfing.
Never stayed longer than I had to and was off straight after the equipment
was put away so I have no idea about the area

Bristol was rough though. Bristol and Birmingham always were places where a
lot of people travelled to from different areas and of course tensions
spilled over. In fact it would be interesting to hear some peoples memories
of places. I remember Crass in Lasswade, Edinburgh - the poisen girls did a
live set recording at that - and it was just a barrage of spit. They didn't
stop spitting. Halifax - the audience sat down around the hall! Wigan was
good but rough, heaps of trouble outside. Liverpool was always a good one as
was Manchester. Sheffield was good, being at some place in the centre right
at the top, lightbite café at the bottom where I chatted to the human league
as they had a cup of tea - oouch carrying the PA up and back down those
stairs!

Sex gang children was an excellent gig I saw in Glasgow. Always liked their
first stuff.

Patrick
I've been to a few gigs at the Civic - KJ & Play Dead was a memeorable one
with plenty of nutters jumpin off the balcony to start fights & Big Paul
faintin a couple of times 'cos the heat was intense.
Another one was Sex Gang Children & Ausgang where the Rubba Luv crew were
givin Andy some stick for some reason - it was a great place,I was only 15 &
the colour,noise & atmosphere 2nd to none.
Ever go to The Golden Eagle a few minutes walk away?
Saw Play Dead there but that was a bit too intimidatin!
Hells Angels downstairs & (again) Rubba Luv crew handin out pastings left
right & centre.Also saw Partisans,Blitz Varukers,GBH & loads of others
there........sigh.Its gone now like all my old haunts...sniffle.
