Though am I right in thinking he might actually be a lurker?

Does not lurking sound kinda shady?.....like the bloke on ya shoulder in a
pub listening to what you are saying and then trading it in the gossip mine?
Blokes like that always get short shrift where im from....that or a
hiding.....ces't la vie.
