i don't know if it was the person who i asked but the same miserioso who 
uploaded 'dark forces' to the yahoo group seems to have dropped 'asteroid' 
there too!

concerning mp3 encoders you can do worse that the free version of 'music 
match jukebox'. this can make mp3s, wavs, covert files etc. and has lots of 
settings. i think you can get it from mp3.com, i got mine from a magazine. 
i've never had any problems with it (apart from when you close it you get 
annoying pop-ups)!
